A challenge that I face as a chemistry teacher is how to bring global citizenship in my classroom. As a Nat Geo certified educator and Education Fellow, I have gained valuable tools and support to make this happen. As a result of my expedition to Galapagos with my fellow Grosvenor Teacher Fellow and expedition partner, Emilia Odife, we connected students from Galapagos, Florida and Silicon Valley to share research, ideas and cultures during one of the breakout sessions. The biggest learning- great things happen when students are empowered. I believe in the power of student's ideas!!

Who knew two years ago, when my journey started with National Geographic as a certified educator then as an Educator Fellow, that it will lead me on a stage alongside Dr. Bob Ballard, the deep sea diver and National Geographic Explorer, who discovered Titanic. I was so humbled to share how we have incorporated global citizenship in my AP Chemistry classes.
Congratulations to Vivek Kamarshi, who was selected as a Regeneron Science Talent Search scholar! We need STEM Leaders and advocates like Vivek now more than ever. This is the beginning of many great things to come. #RegeneronSTS2019 #RegeneronSTS
